2025 OPENING INFORMATION & PRICING

Thank you for taking the time to carefully review this information for a seamless opening experience. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate a specific time/date request, nor will we be able to tell you at what time the crew will arrive.

Every pool is different and we are unable to guess as to how long each opening will take. It is not necessary for you to be at home while our crew opens your pool; however, please ensure that any pets are inside and you have picked up after your pets. Please also ensure that you mark your opening week on your calendar and that we have a valid email/ daytime telephone number for you. We will contact you with a reminder and date the Friday before at the contact information provided. If you haven’t heard from us, please check your junk mail folder and/ or voicemail. It is your responsibility to follow up and ensure that you are prepared for our arrival. We understand that the weather can be unpredictable and that you may want to change your pre-booked opening. We will do our best to accommodate any requests; however, changes will be accommodated only if space is available the week you’re requesting. Please book your opening a minimum of 2 weeks before a special event to ensure you’re up and running. Should you wish to cancel your prebooked opening, we require a minimum of 14 days notice, refunds will be issued for the difference between a close only and the package price paid plus any additional services prepaid. Bookings cancelled within 14 days of your scheduled opening are subject to a refund as described above less a $229.00+HST cancellation fee.

  • Please ensure crews have access to your pool ( gate unlocked or code provided ), all pool equipment is left out and a water supply (garden hose) is available. If access is restricted or equipment isn’t available, we will reschedule your opening crew at the first availability and a fee of $229.00 + HST will apply.
  • Any pool features present (waterfalls, deck jets, second skimmers etc…), not included in your booking form will be included in the opening service and additional charges will apply.
  • Power breakers inside your home must be turned on and ALL pool equipment must be left out to assist in leaving the circulation system running. Equipment includes baskets, return/jet fittings, chlorinators/brominators, salt cell, vacuum supplies, diving board and bolts, ladder etc. and anything stored indoors for the winter. Return visits due to equipment not being left out are subject to a charge of $229.00 + HST.
  • The garden hose will not be left running to fill the pool. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the water level has reached the appropriate operating level. For clarification please call or email the office. Our staff is happy to assist.
  • The vacuum hose may be left in the skimmer to assist in starting the pool and should only be removed when the water level has reached the appropriate operating level. If we are unable to start your system on opening, the reason and advice for next steps will be left on our door hanger or you’ll be contacted by the office. Return visits to start up pool once appropriate water level is reached is not included and may be subject to additional charges.
  • Service calls and repairs are not completed at the time of opening services. If you have been advised that a service call is required, please call the office directly to schedule. **Only the office can schedule a service technician to complete necessary repairs after opening is completed.
  • Leaves and debris from the top of your winter cover will be placed in paper yard waste bags and left either at the curb or side of your house for disposal by the customer. We do not take them away. Additional charges for cleaning may apply for excessive leaves and debris billed at $99.00 per hour. *Please do not pump off your cover yourself
  • Mayfair opening crews cannot move / store your cover inside your home, shed or garage. The cover will be left for you either on the pool deck or at the side of the house.
  • SALT WATER POOLS – Salt cells / chlorine generators will not be turned on/plugged in. Do not turn on until the manufacturers recommended salt level/ temperature have been met. Please call our office for assistance.
  • Mayfair Pools does not turn on or start heaters. Due to regulations by the Technical Safety & Standards Authority, only the homeowner or a licenced gas technician can do so. If a spring heater service has been requested, the gas will be turned on at that time. The heater technician will clean, inspect and fire your heater to test functionality. They will not leave the heater running. The heater company will call/ email you directly to advise the date they will come to service your heater. The heater company does not complete any necessary repairs. They, or Mayfair, will advise if there is an issue that requires attention. Please contact the Mayfair Pools office to schedule.
  • Opening and vacuuming crews do not turn on, program or test lights or automation systems. If this is required, a System Set-Up may be requested. Additional service rates will apply.
  • Mayfair will email you the Friday prior to your selected opening week to advise which day we are coming out to open your pool. It is the homeowners responsibility to keep track of their booking details.

ATTENTION TORONTO/AURORA RESIDENTS

In order for Mayfair Pools to comply with the City of Toronto and City of Aurora Wastewater Discharge By-Laws, extra measures must be taken.

CHLORINE/BROMINE POOLS – an extra charge of $25 + HST will be applied to neutralize the
water being pumped (the by-law states levels must not exceed 0.01 mg/L)

SALT POOLS – as salt water cannot be neutralized and the by-law states the acceptable level of salt in wastewater is zero, we have to deal with lowering the water in a different way.

The Solution: The homeowner can lower their own water level, prior to us arriving for the scheduled pool closing.
To do this, you can use a submersible pump and drain it into a laundry tub or toilet. This would need to be done a couple of days before we arrive to allow enough time for the water to drain 2-3 inches below the return face plates. Water can be drained to your own property. However, salt water can be destructive to plant life and kill grass and plants. As well, the water must not be allowed to flow from your land onto any street, sidewalk or neighbouring property. If you have any questions, our staff would be happy to speak to you. Your business is very important to us, thank you for taking the time to review this important information. Our goal is to execute a smooth closing and opening of your pool.
If you have any concerns, our staff would be happy to address them.
